Sephora Haul: Make Up For Ever, YSL and Tarte

Thanks to the phenomenal artist & associate, Shane Laucher, at Sephora Oakridge, for guiding Jennifer and I to the awesome products that we carried home with pride. Oh, I will have to say that was the best trip to Sephora Oakridge ever! If anyone lives near the San Jose area and wants to finally meet the artist that knows EVERTHING… even about breath molecules… please see Shane! He’s adorable!

Anyway, here’s what I ended up with!
Make up for Ever
Make Up For Ever : MAKE UP FOR EVER Duo Mat Powder Foundation – 202 – Translucent Beige. This product was purchased because I did not like the Laura Mercier Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder and I returned that. I NEVER return anything to makeup counters because I hated returns as an associate myself, so I just never bother with it and give the items to my friends.. but I really didn’t feel that the product wasn’t worth holding onto or worth giving away! This Duo Mat Powder by MUFE truly performs, and just as well, if not better than MAC Studio Fix powder. I have always loved Studio Fix, but it broke me out bad, as it does a lot of folks, and this MUFE product might just be what I was looking for. The coverage is excellent, medium to full, & a very matte finish. Oil-free!

Up next, the liquid blush I’ve been wanting to try for a while. Sephora finally (just today!) got in the testers for MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microfinish Blushes & I must say.. WOW. Freaking wowzers. I have never had good luck with liquid blushes, airbrush blushes, & blush cremes. These liquid blushes are water resistant, long-lasting, & give this amazing & flawless glow that I’ve never seen on these cheeks before!

I apologize for these terrible swatches. I also messed up which blush goes with which name! DUHHH me. The top color, is #4 Walk of Shame and the bottom color is #13 Smooth Talker. Both very matte and intense, but still looks incredibly smooth and professional, not clownish or dirty. The product comes in a tiny .33oz pump bottle, but since the formula is concentrated, you need very little. I am amazed by the finish and the versatility of this blush.. you can use it on your eyes and lips, too! On the lips, I’d recommend using a gloss since the product is very matte.

The next product I purchased was the MAKE UP FOR EVER 5 Camouflage Cream Palette – No. 1 – N1 . I purchased this palette of concealers because I will be able to use this not only on myself, but on clients and mix colors to match the skin perfectly. I thought it was a great investment and I will have this for a long time. As you can see, there is also a color-correcting green concealer included!

Yves Saint Laurent ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 - 10 Provocative Pink
As I was just about to leave the store, I noticed these gorgeous lipsticks by YSL. I could NOT pass up this Yves Saint Laurent ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in # 10 Provocative Pink.Such a beautiful lipstick case and product! Even the tiny mirror on top of the lipstick cap added an elegant touch.

This is the lipstick on without lip liner. This bright magenta pink shade joins a family of numerous shades that YSL offers. This is definitely a quality product with a ton of class. The lipstick is very moisturizing and lush, unlike anything you will find at a drug store.

With my purchase, I also redeemed my Sephora Insider Club points (all 500 of them!) and got a Tarte Insider Collection set, which includes an eyelid primer, three mascaras and lipgloss and more. If you have points to redeem, I would suggest checking this out!

Here I am after my visit to the store.. my face was melting from the heat from within Forever 21.. it was like 90 degrees in there. I didn’t get a chance to really blend in my new liquid blush, but you can see how it just glows from within. I just used my fingers to apply it, but I will try my foundation brush with it tomorrow with a clean face.

Here I am again! I also did a pincurl set on my hair the previous night using the orange tube of the CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara. I had slightly damp hair, sprayed a bit of my Ojon brand detangler on, and wrapped small (about 1 inch across) chunks of hair around the mascara tube, slipping the hair off gently, flattening the “O” curl against my head and pinning them down with pincurl clips (and bobby pins when I ran out of the clips). I slept in the pincurl set overnight and brushed it out slightly in the morning. You really have to finger-style your hair after brushing the pincurl set out. I didn’t use any hairspray or styling products!

Anyway, that concludes my blog for the day. Hope you all have a great holiday weekend!
