Editor’s Beauty Pick List – What’s in my bag?

I hear it’s going to rain here this week, which means I can’t wear my cute purple ruffle flats again, which are my cloth-bottom shoes from Target. Why is it still raining? Even though the glum weather is bringing some people down, it’s not stopping me from wearing my Spring dresses and makeup!

What’s in the bag these days? Here are my current faves (a lot of them are drugstore! Hooray!)

L’Oreal Carbon Black Telescopic Dramatic Lengthening and Intensifying Mascara

It might not be as good as the discontinued comb-wand mascara, Maybelline Lash Stylist, but it’s close enough to keep my lashes happy. The flexible comb wand and uber-black formula makes my lashes dramatic and long, sometimes I won’t even wear eyeshadow because my lashes steal the show.

I am also using Rimmel Lash Maxxx Mascara, another comb-wand mascara, but the formla is terribly thin and I may have to wait a few weeks for it to thicken up a bit. Yes, sometimes when a mascara begins to dry out, it’s the best time to use it!

MAC Bronzing in Refined Golden

Although some folks get gorgeous tans during the summer, I know that I need some help from a little friend.. the MAC Bronzing line is amazing. There are 4 shades of bronze in the collection, and with my pale skin, I went for Refined Golden, which is golden with soft pearl finish. I use this product daily!

Chantecaille Brilliant Gloss

Expensive, but worth it. These lip gloss beauties are not only perfect in texture and taste, but they also contain microspheres of vegetal polysaccarides to help plump and hydrate lips, creating soft, supple lips and an undeniable high-gloss shine.

Also in my bag are Chanel Glossimers, tons of MAC Lipglass shades, and a few discontinued glossies that are rare treasures of my heart.

NP Set Liquid Veil – Moscow Pink

If you’ve seen celebrity makeup artist Napoleon Perdis at work, you know he’s craaazy (and over bronzed!) I have one of his products and I am more than impressed with it. It’s a highlighting liquid that can go under, over or be mixed in with foundation. It is the glow you have always wanted! I’ve tried best-selling products like High Beam from Benefit, highlighters from MAC and nothing compares to this! This is high-quality stuff, and very little of the product goes a long way. I use a small, dry blush brush to apply over my foundation. I found this little treasure at Target! Check out the NP line at Target the next time you go!

MAC Penultimate Brow Marker – Universal

I’m pretty surprised that this product is only available on the MAC Pro website. It’s like using a Sharpie to fill in your brows (hah!), but much more sophisticated. I also use a light taupe brow pencil from MAC, but this liquid pen brow product gives you a definite shape. I really like it and unfortunately, the shade is a light taupe brown and might not be for everyone. I carry it with me for touch-ups (so far, haven’t needed to!)

MAC Chromaline Gel / Cream Liner

Another MAC Pro product, the Chromaline collection is unbeatable! I currently use Black and a Hot Pink (disc.) and haven’t found anything that stays on as long as this product. I have also used the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner, which is awesome, but this is a more versatile product which can be used to do artistic makeup.

L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Toilette Roll-On

One of my most fave scents is now available in an affordable roll-on! Sephora has a lot of new roll-on portable fragrances which are perfect for the purse. L’Eau d’Issey is a pure floral with musky and woody tones, this complex fragrance features a wide range of floral scents, including lotus, cyclamen, freesia, carnations, and white lilies—with hints of amberseed and musk.

Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks Beats Megan Fox for “Best Looking”

If you have seen the AMC Original show, Mad Men, you will definitely have seen the curvaceous fiery redheaded bombshell, Joan Harris, played  by the newly crowned “Best Looking Female” Christina Hendricks. Esquire magazine held a poll that included 10,000 women, including Megan Fox (my personal fave) who was last year’s crowned queen of beauty,… Continue Reading
