Calling all goths! =)
I don’t know if I should be amazed or completely repulsed by the new collection by MAC, simply called Style Black. This collection emphasizes.. well.. black.

Not sure what to be excited about unless you are running out of black eyeshadow.. I don’t use stick eyeliners (I use creme liners in glass pots, like MAC Blacktrack) and I haven’t worn black lipstick or gloss OR nail polish in years. This collection is for rockstars and possibly teens experimenting with their gothic or emo phase. hehheh!
The collection will consist of a black lipstick, black glosses with different pigments like black with gold pearl or purple pearl. There will also be a variety of black mineralize eye shadows and three nail laquers. (To see a more detailed look, check out temptalia.com)
I have ALL the black products that I need for now, but thanks, MAC! This collection is released Sept. 24th!

Ok, so I get the point that me and many other gals are pissed that our favorite Maybelline Lash Stylist mascara is discontinued for the most part. You can still find it online, but it’s rare and doesn’t come in the formula and color that I wear… so I tried Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara (big orange tube) and I liked it, but the brush seemed too big and I accidentally bought a gray/black formula, so I didn’t really do back flips over it.
I just saw, via Facebook, a post by Cover Girl, announcing the newest mascara to join the lineup: Lash Blast Length!
Shorter brush, which to me means, better control and a thicker lash look. This mascara contains nylon.. for lengthening with a no-flake formula. Obviously in the ad for this product, Drew Barrymore is wearing falsies.. but oh well, we knew that. Let me know if you guys try it and what you think!!

Now, I would just like to note that I’ve never airbrushed makeup before. I have used foundation in a spray can from Dior and MAC, and the spray-on blush from MAC, but I wasn’t impressed with any of those products. There are airbrushing classes for MAC Pro members, which might serve to be key before purchasing any airbrush device. I am not sure what the difference is between the TEMPTU and the MAC airbrushes, if anyone can offer insight, let me know and I will post your experience / tips or anything you know about these products. TEMPTU is marketing their airbrushing system as an “anybody can do this at home” product, but honestly, is it that easy?
Here’s the breakdown of the cost VS. the MAC Pro airbrush:

$285 regular price – but I believe if you take the Pro Master classes, you can use your class payment towards the airbrush cost.
MAC silicon-based Airbrush Formula (Available in foundation colors as well as pure white and other bright colors for dramatic looks. Colors are high in pigment and can be diluted with the airbrush cleanser) : $29.50 for 1.7 oz of product – $17.70 for Mac Pro members!
Airbrush Cleanser (Used to thin down products and also cleans the airbrush) : $21 for 5.1 oz and $12.60 for Mac Pro members!
You can choose a gravity feed or side feed airbrush gun. Now, like I said before, I have never used an airbrush gun, but I read on the MAC site that the gravity feed gun allows for slower hand movements for more detailed applications, and the side feed gun has a smaller color cup which rotates and allows the artist to paint vertically and horizontally. I don’t know exactly the big difference between them besides the size of the cup that holds the color. Each gun costs $140 each.
Total cost regular price – $475.50 – $455.30 for Pro members, who will save their 40% off on the airbrush products, not the airbrush itself.
My thoughts:
Well, I like the fact that the TEMPTU airbrush is highly portable and easy to use, but it is very limited. You can only use the TEMPTU pods to apply the color and you have no freedom to use other pigments. I have read the reviews and see that people love it, but the TEMPTU product is a sheer and buildable product. I’d rather have a highly pigmented product to thin down to my own liking, like with the MAC pro products. I see the TEMPTU airbrush gun as being a very basic approach to airbrushing, good for everyday foundation and blush use, but not for a professional makeup artist that needs to do body airbrush and more dramatic work. I personally would rather have the MAC airbrush to do fun body painting and work with a wide array of colors. I would rather pay $110 dollars more for the MAC airbrush, which seems to be very durable, more professional and the cost of the color is really reasonable for the size you get and the pigment that you get out of it. In the long run, you will be paying more for the TEMPTU pods, which are pretty small. The MAC airbrush is only found in at the MAC pro stores (not at MAC counters in department stores) and the TEMPTU airbrush can only be found at Sephora. Good luck and let me know what you guys think!
